Countertop Care Instructions
Ortiz Stone and Material Specialists, thanks you for purchasing Tuffskin Surface Protection.
In order to maintain the ‘like new’ appearance, please follow our simple instructions. Using improper cleaning products or exposing it to rough objects will dull and effect the appearance.
Tuffskin is designed to prevent staining and etching. This means acidic foods and drinks will not dull or etch the surface. Furthermore, it will not allow oils and liquids to penetrate and discolor the stone or material.
Tuffskin can still be scratched. Like stone tops, the surface can be scratched and cut with rough plates, bottom of wine bottles and cutting with knives. All scratching is permanent and cannot be removed.
Protecting from scratches and dulling:
-
Attach felt or rubber tabs under heavy or rough objects such as plant pots and appliances.
-
Use cutting mats or wood cutting blocks with felt under the wood base.
-
Use place mats and coasters for plates and glasses.
-
Use hot pads under pots, pans, pizza boxes etc.
-
Do not use scrub sponges or steel wool pads on the surface.
-
Do not use any abrasive cleaners such as Comet, Barkeepers or Mr. Clean Sponges.
-
Do not drag objects back and forth on the surface. Lift heavy objects carefully when moving.
-
Do not throw car keys or tools on the surface. Set hard objects on a tray or in a bowl.
How to clean:
-
Wipe surface with wet soft cloths or paper towels to clean up spills and foods.
-
For removing grease, dilute liquid dish soap and wipe with wet cloth. Rince with clean water.
-
Any cleaner made for cleaning glass, marble or granite is ok.
Other care instructions:
-
Do not attempt to fix surface without consulting Ortiz Stone and Material Specialist
-
Do not attempt to pick at or remove film at edges of stone.
-
Inform guests or tenants that there is a protective finish and to follow these instructions.
